West Sikkim launches AAMA initiative

The West District Administration today launched an initiative called "AAMA" as per the Niti Aayog's initiative of Transforming Aspirational Districts to transform the district in six vital areas of Health & Nutrition, Agriculture and allied activities, Financial Inclusion, Skill Development and Basic Infrastructure. The launch was chaired by District Collector (West), Kapil Meena at Bhanu Salig, Kyongsa West Sikkim.

The DC briefed the audience about the various cross-convergent ideas and schemes that the district has planned for overall development of district. For successful implementation of the District Action Plan, DC has asked all HOD's to take ownership and for their personal involvement so that the initiative is successful.

A presentation on district plan for transforming West Sikkim for successful implementation of the District Action Plan 2018-22 was presented by the SDM. The district has come up with various indicators prevalent in these sectors as of today and what the district wants to achieve by 2022 through various technological, administrative, financial and infrastructural interventions.

As for regular and strict monitoring mechanism of existing flagship schemes of both central and state developed in the district, officers were designated as the in charge for ensuring improvement in performance on specific indicators as per set targets.

As per the planning, the SDMs were in charge of monitoring performance of all line departments and looking after the improvements in performance indicators under their jurisdiction and conduct review meeting every month for progress in all the six vital sectors. BDOs were handed over the implementation of district action plan in block level and told to submit a monthly report to concerned SDMs and to the District Collector. HODs were to be responsible for implementation of district action plan on their respective sector and to submit progress report on a monthly basis to District Collector.

Further, for more successful implementation of District Action Plan, all SDMs and BDOs were to formulate a Sub-Divisional and Block-Level action plan with effective public mobilization and active participation.

The meeting was attended by CMO (W), ADC (Dev) Gyalshing, DRCHO Gyalshing District Hospital, JD HRDD, SDMs, BDOs, CDPO Gyalshing and various other officials.
