Marathon Man Abhishek Gupta releases book on Delhi run

Long distance runner, Abhishek Prasad Gupta's book was released by the Superintendent of Police [East], Tenzing Loden Lepcha here at the Press Club of Sikkim today.

In the book, Abhishek has shared the experiences of his recent solo ultra marathon from Gangtok to Delhi to encourage youngsters.

The 22-year-old runner from Singtam has written about his experiences, challenges and other interesting facts accompanied by plenty of photographs of various stops and receptions from the run.

The 62-page book features Abhishek’s journey from Sikkim to Delhi including the support he received from people along the way.

Abhishek started his run from Gangtok on 29 Dec, 2017 and reached Delhi on 24 Jan, 2018 after completing 1545 KM run covering five States namely, Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

He began the run to promote Sikkim’s Organic Mission and raise awareness on child abuse and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

He is presently preparing to cover 3000 KMs to register his name in the Limca Book of Records.

Appreciating the idea behind the run to create awareness on social issues, SP [East] stated that the District Administration provided all possible support to Abhishek in his recent run. He congratulated him for documenting his journey and encouraged him to continue with such initiatives.

The function started with the welcome address by PCS president, Joseph Lepcha and ended with vote of thanks by PCS general secretary, Puran Tamang. The function was conducted by journalist Arpan Pradhan.
