A team of Bharatiya Janta Party Sikkim Pradesh visited Nam Nang area in the capital and interacted with the residents. The team, which was led by Yuwa Morcha president, Laten Sherpa, and accompanied by other youth leaders of the party, enquired about the various problems and issues of the people of Nam Nang, informs a BJP press release.
The release informs that around 50 families have been living in temporary huts and sheds just below the State Legislative Assembly premises since the past 70 years. The government has always given them false assurance of providing Pucca houses, the party alleges.
The BJP team has assured them to provide justice. They will be visiting the Urban Development & Housing Department to inquire on its failure to provide justice to the people of the area along with other such areas in Naya Bazaar, Rangpo, Arithang and Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School even after funds are being provided by the Centre, the release adds.
