Primitive Tribe Welfare Board conducts seminar on issues of minorities in Sikkim

Gangtok, 09 Apr:

A daylong seminar on “Prospective Issues of Minorities in Sikkim: Retrospective and the Prospect” was organized by Primitive Tribe Welfare Board, Department of Social Justice, Empowerment & Welfare, Government of Sikkim, at Mangan, North Sikkim, today.

The seminar was sponsored by Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India under Research/Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation of Development Schemes including Publicity, a press release informs.

Chairperson, Primitive Tribe Welfare Board, Sonam Dupden Lepcha, attended the inaugural function as chief guest along with Joint Director, Human Resource Development Department, Sonam Lepcha, Joint Director cum Senior Welfare Officer, North, Norden Lepcha, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mangan, PW Lepcha, and Radha Chettri as resource persons.

While addressing the inaugural session of the seminar, chief guest, Mr Lepcha, highlighted the activities undertaken by the Board for the welfare of minorities in the State. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, for their support in organizing the seminar at five different locations in the State and urged all the 80 participants to take maximum advantage of the seminar.
