SIEM Siliguri hosts inter-school & inter-college competition

Siliguri, 12 Apr:

Surendra Institute of Engineering and Management [SIEM], Siliguri, hosted an inter-school and inter-college technical competition today with Professor of Physics, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata, Bikas Kanta Chakrabarti, as the judge for the event.

The SIEM team presented a model and blue print developed to solve traffic problems at Darjeeling More and Siliguri Junction.

Addressing the press, one of the members of the team said, “Our main motive is to solve traffic problem in Darjeeling More and Siliguri Junction. Since these are the busiest areas of the town, dividing the routes was important. We’ve built a map which shows that addition of flyovers and introduction of metro railways can decrease traffic by 50%. A fly over from Champasari to City Center and over-bridges can make it much easier for everybody to reach their destination on time.”

Another electronic engineering team of SIEM had developed a prototype named Online Patient Monitoring System [OPMS].

One of the members of the ECE team, Ujjal Khanal, said, “OPMS is a new invention which can detect human heartbeat and body temperature of the patient then can send the data to a server. It is basically invented for patients who need to visit doctor regularly. By using this system, they can see the entire data in their mobile with the help of one app.”
