Dzongu, 13 Apr:
Deputy Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly cum MLA [Dzongu], Sonam Gyatso Lepcha today inaugurated the newly constructed Village Administrative Centre at Tingbong Gram Panchayat Unit in Upper Dzongu, North Sikkim.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Additional District Collector [Dev], KR Limboo, Sub Divisional Magistrate [Dzongu], Tshering Dorjee Bhutia, Block Development Officer [Dzongu], Roshan Subba, Panchayat, Zilla members, officials and general public.
Tingbong GPU also felicitated former Panchayat, Yangching Lepcha for his contribution as the longest serving public representative in the area.
The new building, built at Rs 30 lakh was funded by Rural Management and Development Department, Government of Sikkim under Thirteenth Finance Commission as stated by the official representative of RMDD.
The land for the construction of VAC was donated by Palden Wangchuk Lepcha.
ADC [Dev] announced Rs 50,000 for the provision of furniture from the Department.
Addressing the function, the chief guest congratulated the people of Tingbong on getting a new Village Administrative Centre building and informed that the infrastructure will help in implementing different works sanctioned by the Government for the people.
Mr Lepcha also congratulated the GPU for being selected for Rashtriya Gram Gaurav Puraskar and said that it is a great achievement for the panchayats and public of the area.
The GPU is scheduled to receive the Rashtriya Gram Gaurav Puraskar on 24 Apr.
The Area MLA further highlighted about the development initiated by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and also underlined about different upcoming schemes.
