Two-day review workshop on education in NE States begins in Gangtok

Gangtok, 17 Apr (IPR):

A two-day review workshop for North Eastern States under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in collaboration with HRDD Sikkim began today, at Hotel Lemon Tree.

The programme was chaired by Special Secretary (SE&L) MHRD, Government of India, Rina Ray along with Addl. Chief Secretary, HRDD Sikkim, GP Upadhyaya, Joint Secretary (SE-1), MHRD, Maneesh Garg and other Secretaries and senior officials from MHRD North Eastern States.

The workshop was participated by 08 North Eastern States: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim.

The workshop commenced with the welcome address by Addl. Chief Secretary, HRDD Sikkim, GP Upadhyaya where he welcomed everyone and said that equality and quality are the important pillars of an education system of today. This workshop will ensure strengthening of all the aspects and would contribute to Sikkim Government’s commitment to quality education till the grass roots, he added.

Additional Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, MHRD, Rina Ray expressed hope that the seminar should not be seen as a standalone activity but part of a larger education strategy for ensuring that all children  come to school and can take full advantage of schemes/policies enforced by the Central/State Government. She also appreciated Sikkim's beauty and achievements.

During the 1st session of the workshop the presentation was made on the new framework for Integrated scheme of SSA, RMSA & Monitoring System (PMS) – Online submission of AWP&B by States/UTs for PAB 2018-19 followed by the discussion on the new ISSE Scheme.

The presentation on the Mid Day Meal Scheme, NAS, Restructuring of SCERTs/DIETs, Shaala Kosh [UDISE + SDMIS + Shaala Siddhi], DIKSHA by Andhra Pradesh State, Sports in Schools, and Safety Guidelines for Schools was reviewed and discussed, during the 2nd and 3rd sessions.
