Kapil Meena takes charge as DC East


Gangtok, 16 Apr:

Kapil Meena, one of the youngest IAS officers in Sikkim, took charge as the new East District Collector today. Before this, he was posted as the District Collector of West Sikkim.

He passed the civil service exam in 2009 and joined the Indian Administrative Service in 2010.

35 years old, Mr Meena hails from Kota in Rajasthan and completed his schooling from Modern School and then studied BSc Agriculture in G.B. Pant University in Uttarakhand. He has an MA in Public Policy in training as well.

He came to Sikkim in 2011 as Assistant Collector, East District.

So far he has served as Sub Divisional Magistrate in Gyalshing, SDM in Soreng, ADC in South District and ADC in West District.

He was also posted as Managing Director in Sikkim Milk Union. During his tenure he also played an important role in developing the Sikkim Milk brand.

Son of Kamala and DN Meena he gave up a campus placement job to prepare for UPSC.

"DC East posting is a challenging job and tough experience but I am all set to take it up with past experience of working here and with dedicated service to general public," the new DC East has said.
