Sikkim Bihari Jagaran Manch, Namchi, held an oath-taking ceremony today for the newly elected executive members of the Namchi unit. The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by SBJM central body and founding member of the Sangh and the election committee.
It may be mentioned here that for the first time in the State, executive committee for Namchi branch was selected on the basis of an election held earlier on 02 Apr.
Following the election, Anil Gupta was elected as the president, Rajesh Gupta as vice-president, Binod Gupta as general secretary, Ganesh Gupta as joint-secretary and Niraj Burma as the treasurer of SBJM, Namchi sangh.
Addressing the function, SBJM president [central committee], Swami Nath, congratulated the newly elected members and urged them to work together for the welfare of Bihari community in Namchi.
He assured to provide every possible help to the Namchi branch and also spoke on the objectives and importance of SBJM in Sikkim.
He also informed the gathering about his meeting with Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and said that the CM was very encouraging regarding the motives of SBJM in the State.
“We kept our demands in front of Mr Chamling and he was very warm towards us and assured to help us on every way possible. He indeed is a people’s CM,” he said.
Newly elected SBJM, Namchi president, Anil Gupta thanked the members for electing him and assured to work towards the development of Bihari community in Namchi and the State as well.
During the programme, women’s wing of Bihari Jagaran Sangh, Namchi was also constituted following which Babita Gupta was nominated as president, Laxmi Devi Gupta as vice-president, Anita Gupta as general secretary, Januki Rajak as joint-secretary and Sarmila Raj as treasurer.
