New Delhi, 25 Apr [IPR]:
Sikkim bagged the National e-Panchayat Puraskar 2018 [First Prize under Category I] on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Diwas held at Rampur, Mandala in Madhya Pradesh today. Special Secretary cum Director Panchayat, Rural Management & Development Department, Government of Sikkim, MN Dhakal, received the award on behalf of the State from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Similarly, Maniram Phalidara Gram Panchayat, South Sikkim, was awarded the Gram Panchayat Development Plan Award by the PM which was received by Panchayat Member, Topda Bhutia.
Union Minster for RD & Panchayati Raj, Government of India, Narendra Singh Tommar, and Minister of State for Panchayati Raj and Farmers Welfare, Parshottam Rupala, handed over the four other awards to Sikkim.
The Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar [DDUPSP] was awarded to South District Zilla Panchayat which was received by Adhyaksha, Farwanti Tamang, and Up-Adhyaksha, Bhim Bahadur Lakhey.
The DDUPSP for Martam Gram Panchayat Unit, West Sikkim was received by Panchayat Sabhapati, Chabi Lal Chettri, and Panchayat Sachiva, Kumar Rai.
Likewise, Panchayat Sabhapati, Bikash Sharma, and Panchayat Up-Sabhapati, Durga Bahadur Subba, received the DDUPSP for Namphing Gram Panchayat, South Sikkim.
The Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar [NDRGGSP] to Gram Panchayats for outstanding performance of Gram Sabha GPDP Award was awarded to Tingvong Gram Panchayat, North Sikkim which was received by the Panchayat Sabhapati, Tshering Rapjor Lepcha, and Panchayat Sachiva, Norgay Lepcha.
The delegation from Sikkim have attributed the awards to the visionary and consistent leadership and guidance of the Government led by the Chief Minister, and the efforts from officers, Panchayats and field functionaries of the RM&DD.
