Minister of State (Independent charge) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, Giriraj Singh chaired the Sikkim Entrepreneurs Meet at the Conference Hall of Chintan Bhawan today.
The meet was attended by Commerce and Industries Secretary, Arvind Kumar, Heads and officials from various departments, Managing Director of Temi Tea Estate, representative from banks and young entrepreneurs from Sikkim.
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Tadong, organised the Entrepreneurs Meet.
Addressing the gathering Union Minister, Mr Singh appreciated the growth made by the young entrepreneurs of Sikkim in the past several years and urged them to continue with same zeal and enthusiasm.
“There is so much scope in Sikkim and the State already has branded itself as an organic state. So, young entrepreneurs must take advantage of it. Besides organic products, entrepreneurs can set up of Bamboo industry in Sikkim under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). Once Bamboo industry starts functioning then products can be exported to various parts of the world,” said the Union Minister.
He asked MSME to organise awareness programmes on UAM across the state so that more entrepreneurs will know about Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM).
“Our Prime Minister is mainly focusing on increasing ease of doing business through various online program mode. And our entrepreneurs must take advantage of such platform. We modified existing programs under MSME and it will benefit vibrant entrepreneurs. We have to bring decentralised model in Sikkim as well for ease of doing business under MSME,” the Union Minister added.
He highlighted various schemes under MSME through PMEGP Mode and asked entrepreneurs to avail such schemes saying that so much can be done in different fields.
Mr Singh also released the first Data Bank Book on MSME, Sikkim and said that this data bank book will help the State and Ministry in days to come and every state must have Data Bank Book on MSME for reference.
The Union Minister also interacted with the enterpreneurs of Sikkim and made queries about their business process and working culture.
Mr Singh directed MSME Trading to guide and support enterpreneurs.
Earlier Secretary of Commerce and Industries highlighted various initiatives taken by the state government to encourage youth in this sector.
