MoS MSME calls on Governor, speaks on boosting entrepreneurship in Sikkim

Gangtok, 26 Apr:

Union Minister of State [In-charge] for Small and Medium Enterprises, Giriraj Singh, called on Governor Shriniwas Patil at Raj Bhavan late in the evening on 25 Apr. It was a courtesy call by the Union Minister who is on a three-day visit to Sikkim, a press communiqué received from Raj Bhavan informs.

During the interaction with the Governor, Mr Singh gave a brief insight into the purpose of his maiden Sikkim visit and the initiatives his Ministry is taking up to promote entrepreneurship among the youth in rural areas.

The Union Minister also showed keen interest in boosting entrepreneurship among the Sikkimese youth in the sectors of organic farming, spices and agro forestry. He further stated that Sikkim has tremendous potential in the herbal and aromatic plants production if planned and executed through scientific method of farming. He called for more enterprising approach and initiative from the youth to reap benefits from the schemes and projects launched by Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.

The Governor urged the Union Minister to facilitate more youths of Sikkim into entrepreneurship through his Ministry so that the Sikkimese youth choose entrepreneurship as their first career choice. He also requested him to provide Organic Produce Testing Lab to Sikkim through his Ministry.
