SMIT celebrates 21st Annual Day

Gangtok, 30 Apr:

Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology [SMIT] celebrated its 21st Annual Day on the birth anniversary of the founder of the Manipal group, Late Dr TMA Pai, at SMIT campus in Majhitar, East Sikkim today, a press release informs.

Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University [SMU], Lieutenant General [Dr] MD Venkatesh, while addressing the event as chief guest, congratulated SMIT for its successful journey of 21 years and acknowledged the contributions that SMIT has made in the field of technical education in Sikkim and North East India.

The guardian of 3rd year Civil Engineering Department topper, Dichen Thiengh, was invited as guest of honour on this special occasion.

Director-SMIT, Professor [Dr] Ashis Sharma, while presenting the annual report, highlighted the achievements of SMIT during the academic year 2017-18. He also informed about the establishment of 4G and 5G test beds under the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, activities of MUTBI and the achievements of current students as well as its Alumni. SMIT has signed a MoU with several foreign universities from Romania, Korea and Poland.

Associate Director [Academics], Prof [Dr] BB Pradhan, reminded all about the contributions of the Late Dr Pai in the field of medical, technical and professional education.

During the function, the significant contributors of SMIT starting from safai-karamcharis to the teachers and the students were felicitated.

Electronics and Communication Engineering Department was awarded as the “Best Department” of SMIT in the academic year 2017-18.
