Annual training camp of 04th Sikkim Btn NCC kicks-off at Kamrang
Namchi, 02 May [IPR]: Minister for Human Resource and Development Department, RB Subba, attended the annual training camp of 04th Sikkim Battalion National Cadet Corps at NCC Training Centre in Kamrang as chief guest today.
The program, organized under the aegis of the 04th Sikkim NCC Battalion, was also attended by Commanding Officer DS Dahiya and Lieutenant Colonel Gulshan Chadha along with officials and trainers from NCC, HRDD officials, principals from different schools and colleges and students from schools in South and West Sikkim.
This is the first ever camp for the cadets of South and West Sikkim and is scheduled to conclude on 11 May.
The chief guest along with the officials inspected the training facility and oversaw various cadet activities.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Subba extended his best wishes to the students and highlighted that the training will provide opportunities for the cadets to experience camp life, outdoor activities and community living.
He added that the camp will also assist them to develop teamwork, self-confidence, self-reliance and dignity of labour which will help them in the long-run.
The Minister also informed the students that they will further get the opportunity to hone their skills in the National Trekking Camp that will take place in November. He also urged them to prepare diligently for the National Defense Academy examinations and called on them to have an ambitious approach towards enhancing their life skills further.
Mr Subba also underlined the numerous opportunities in the field of education available in Sikkim in educational institutions such as CCCT Chisopani and ATTC Bardang.
Lt Col Gulshan Chadha spoke in brief about the training discipline and motto of the camp. He underlined that during the course of the training the cadets will be imparted with valuable training which will prepare the NCC cadets to do well in certificate examinations as well as inculcate leadership qualities.
Additionally, he mentioned that the participating cadets are the youngest battalion that NCC Kamrang has ever had. He shared that lectures and demonstrations will be organized as part of the training camp and that the cadets will also participate in various community development programmes.
