DLSA-North celebrates Labour Day at Manul


Mangan, 02 May:

District Legal Services Authority [DLSA], North Sikkim, conducted a micro-legal awareness programme at Manul, under Toong-Naga GPU, here on the occasion of International Labour Day on 01 May.

Chairperson, DLSA-North, District Judge Prajwal Khatiwada, and Labour Inspector, Sonam Pintsho Lepcha, attended the programme as resource persons.

The camp had the participation of GREF labourers and other workers who were apprised about the various provisions of the Sikkim Labour Protection Act, 2005, Sikkim Labour Protection Rules, 2006, Workmen Compensation Act, 1923 and the Sikkim Workmens Compensation Rules, 1986.

Provisions regarding registration of every worker with the Registering Officer, number of working hours/ working days, need for payment of equal remuneration; time limit for payment of wages, need for token or receipt of registration, payment of wages in cash and the provisions regarding medical services were also brought to the notice of the participants.

The provision of NALSA [Legal Services to the workers in the Organised Sector] Scheme, 2015 and the relevant provisions of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 were also discussed during the programme.
