SKM celebrates Labour Day in South, welcomes host of new members

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha celebrated International Labour Day in grand manner at Maniram Bhanjyang in South Sikkim on 01 May. The celebration was chaired by SKM acting president, KN Lepcha, and was attended by senior leaders, party workers and supporters from across the State.
SKM chief coordinator and MLA, Sonam Lama, was felicitated by the party for pursuing the issue of the Karmapa’s visit to Sikkim successfully. The acting president also launched online membership registration on the occasion. Members from different political parties, social workers, Panchayat, retired employees and intellectuals joined SKM.
Former Deputy CM, PT Lucksom, former MP, Nakul Das Rai, retired Principal Registrar, DN Tiwari, retired Joint Registrar, NL Bhandari, senior politician, Amar Lal Pradhan, and eight other individuals including former president, Bhim Kumari Sharma, and former general secretary of BJP State women’s wing, Chimi Doma Bhutia, retired police officer, Ragbey Bhutia, BJP South district general secretary, Madan Tamang, and other BJP members joined the party.
A founder member and popular leader of SDF party from Namchi-Singhithang, Ganesh Rai, along with 60 families also joined the party on the day.
It is further informed that 14 families from Rumtek, 60 families from Soreng-Chakung led by Prem Bhandari, 30 families from Martam-Rumtek led by Prashant Thapa, 24 families from Poklok-Kamrang led by Khagendra Chettri, 38 families from Maniram-Bhanjyang led by Dhiren Gurung, 48 families from West Pendam led by Raj Biswakarma, 12 families from Martam Rumtek led by Ashok Rasaily, 32 families from Rabitar, Melli led by Tenzing Lepcha and 12 families from Yangthang led by Sancha Raj Limboo officially joined SKM.
The celebration was addressed by senior leaders of SKM and new joining leaders who lashed out on the failure of the State government in different areas and for misleading the people of Sikkim.
Speaking to this correspondent, founder member of SDF from Singithang who joined SKM yesterday, Ganesh Rai, said, “I had served SDF throughout my life and helped Pawan Chamling bring in his government and run it. I believed him. I believed in his principles and his attachment with grassroots and his dream of development for our society. I myself and my fellow friends of Singithang followed his dream and principles and always worked for the SDF party and for Pawan Chamling but after these long years of our sincere work and dedication for the party, I have no belief left in him and in his party so I decided to leave SDF and join SKM.”
