Sikkim observes Easwaramma Day

Gangtok, 06 May:

Devotees of Sathya Sai Baba in the State today marked the Easwaramma Day to commemorate the passing away of Meesaraganda Eashwaramma, mother of Late Satya Sai Baba, by conducting various programs in Sathya Sai Baba temples and Bal Vikash centers run by the organisation across the State.

Easwaramma Day was also observed here in the capital with a daylong program organised at the Sri Sathya Sai Dharma Nilayam in Balwakhani which included bhajan sessions and discourses on the significance of the day in the calendar of Sai devotees who observe the day not only as a tribute to motherhood but also as children’s day.

“A mother is the first guru of a child and this day is to remember and honor our mothers,” explains a Sai devotee, Renu Chettri.

Children of Bal Vikash centers recited mantras and sung bhajans along with colorful cultural and spiritual presentations on oneness of mankind.

Apart from Gangtok, the day was also observed across the State including Ranipool, Singtam, Rangpo, Namchi, Jorethang and Geyzing.

The organisers, Sri Sathya Sai Sewa Organisation informed that this day is celebrated across the world by Sai devotees in 130-plus countries where the spiritual organisation operates.
