Two-day angling competition at Teesta Triveni wraps up

Kalimpong, 06 May:

Himalayan Angling and Conservation Organisation (HACO) concluded its two-day angling competition with support from Gorkha Territorial Administration at Teesta -Triveni about 18 KMs from Kalimpong today.

With the aim to preserve the endangered species of Golden Mahseer fish which is found only in the Teesta, HACO had started the angling competition at Triveni in 2016.

The competition was held for the third time this year, informs HACO general secretary, Jigme Wangchuk Nadik.

The competition this year was conducted on the theme, ‘Catch and Release,’ and had 60 anglers from Darjeeling, Sikkim, Jalpaiguri and Bhutan participating.

Amar Deep Lama who caught a fish weighing 1.100 KG was adjudged the winner.

Rakesh Chamling was declared first in spawning category.

The winners were given fishing rods and rod drills along with cash prizes.
