HH Dalai Lama congratulates Chamling for becoming the longest serving CM of India

Gangtok, 10 May:

The Dalai Lama congratulated Chief Minister PawanChamling for becoming the longest serving Chief Minister of any Indian state.

In a letter to MrChamling, the Dalai Lama said that he admires his more than two decades of service to the people of Sikkim.

“Having had the pleasure of visiting Sikkim many times since 1956, I have personally witnessed its development,” the Dalai Lama said.

He further said that Sikkim has seen progress in prosperity and development at all levels of the society.

“I also commend your efforts at maintaining social harmony among the different communities in Sikkim. I am confident that under your leadership you will continue to work for the people of your state, particularly by improving the lives of the less proviedged section of the people in your State,” he wrote.
