Sikkim Himalayan Veteran Open Tournament concludes at Namchi

Namchi, April 13: The 4th Sikkim Himalayan Veteran Open Tournament 2018 concluded today here at Indoor Gymnasium hall Namchi with the several final event of the tournament. This two days long tournament was being organised by Badminton Association of Namchi (BAN) where more than 200 players from different place like Darjeeling, Kalampong, Kurseong, Mirik, Siliguri and players from Sikkim participated in this tournament. SLA Speaker KN Rai was the Chief Guest of the concluding programme of the tournament which was also attended by Chairman Satish Chandra Rai, DC South PravakarVerma. Officers of south district also attended the function. Addressing the function SLA Speaker KN Rai congratulated all the members of BAN for successfully organising this event in Namchi. He also thanked BAN for continuous organising such level of tournament by which number of young children is being encouraged to be engaged in such sports and games. He also thanked DC south PravakarVerma and Raj Yadav for developing indoor gymnasium hall with various facilities and infrastructure. AlenRongkup of Kalimpongtook away35+ Veteran Singles trophy while in 35+ doubles SontashSubba and Sameer Gurung of BAN became the winner.

In 40+ Veteran Singles ArjunTamang of BAJ became the champ and in 40+ doubles AswinAgarwal and SadhanMondal of Siliguri became the winners. In 45+ Veteran Single SajanSubba of BAN made title his name whilein 45+ Veteran doubles Namgyal Bhutia and Mohan Thapa from Sombaria became the winners.

Similarly, in 50+ veteran double RajendraMaskey and Namgyal Bhutia became the champion and in mix doubles category Sameer Gurung and SunanditaBista from BAN were awarded with the winner’s trophy.
