IPL holds training programme on organic farming at Patuk Singbel

Gangtok, 14 May:

Gram Panachayat Unit of 50 Patuk Singbel in association with International Panaacea Limited [IPL] orgnanised a training and demonstration programme on “Importance of Organic Farming and Specializes Biological Solution in Agriculture application” at Government Senior Secondary School, Makha in East Sikkim on 12 May, a press release informs.

Deputy Director, Majhitar Horticulture Farm, Yogesh Sharma, highlighted on mushroom cultivation. He demonstrated on mushroom cultivation right from its seed preparation to fermentation and setting up in poly bags.

“Mushroom cultivation practice can be done as part time or full time and is a beneficial scheme for farmers as well as students,” he added.

Deputy Director, Horticulture & Cash Crops Development Department, KL Koirala, explained about the schemes under the department and urged the participants to follow the policies and methods of organic farming.

A PhD scholar from Scotland, David Humpry, was also present in the programme as observer. He is in the State for his research on organic farming. He appreciated the participation of the school children and extended gratitude to the organizers, Principal and the school staff for making him a part of the event.
