ASGEA CEC elections within 3 months, adhoc committee announces


Gangtok, 16 May:

The adhoc committee of the All Sikkim Government Employees Association [ASGEA] for group C & D has announced that the election for the central executive committee of the association will be held within three months. The present adhoc committee has been running the association since June 2016.

Addressing a press conference here today, ASGEA general secretary, SB Gurung, stated that it was the demand of the employees to hold elections for the 13-member CEC at the earliest to install a permanent committee.

On the same, he informed that the adhoc committee is presently working on conducting the CEC election within three months in a democratic and transparent manner.

Mr Gurung mentioned that it was mandatory for government employees of group C & D to have a membership with ASGEA in order to vote in the election. He informed that the new membership and renewal process is being conducted at the ASGEA office in Hospital Dara and has appealed to government employees to contact the office for new or renewal of membership.

It is informed that the election will be conducted for the posts of chairman, vice-chairman, general secretary, joint general secretary, treasurer, assistant treasurer, publicity secretary, assistant publicity secretary, office secretary and executive members.

Adhoc committee joint general secretary, Pinky Rai, further informed that over these two years, the adhoc committee has carried out various works of the association including renovation of the association office, fund raising and welfare measures of C & D employees.

“ASGEA is an umbrella association of 17 government employees associations of the State and has been working as a bridge between the government and C&D employees of Sikkim,” she added.

The ASGEA adhoc committee has expressed gratitude to the State Government for consistently working in the interest and welfare of C&D employees of the State.
