CBGC re-elects Rev Joseph Tamang as committee prez for fourth time


Gangtok, 17 May:

Christian Burial Ground Committee [CBGC] held its annual meeting at Bethesda Church here at Indira Bye-Pass on 16 May. The meeting was attended by church elders, committee members and pastors from more than 40 churches from in and around Gangtok, a press release informs.

CBGC treasurer, RD Rai presented the expenditure report for the year 2016-17 and underlined transparency in CBGC account-keeping.

CBGC secretary, Milan Rai, highlighted the activities carried out by the committee from 2016 to 2018.

CBGC president, Reverend Joseph Tamang, in his address, delved on the progress and hardships faced by the committee and thanked the church leaders for their continuous and generous support towards the committee’s endeavors to protect, conserve and beautify the burial grounds located at Bakthang and Chandmari.

After the reporting session, the old committee was dissolved.

Regarding the agenda of a new president’s nomination, the house suggested and proposed Mr Tamang to continue as the CBGC president and carry forward the ongoing works for another term.

CBGC advisor, CP Dewan, and the church leaders voted in favor of the decision and re-elected Joseph Tamang as CBGC president for 2018-19.

With this, Rev Tamang has been elected as the committee president for the fourth time now. He is yet to nominate the rest of the committee members, the release informs.
