Forest Deptt continues riverfront cleaning drive along Rani Khola
Gangtok, 17 May:
Continuing the riverfront cleanliness drive as part of the World Environment Day initiatives, Forest Department officials and students of Aho-Kisan Secondary School today conducted another cleanliness drive along Rani Khola below Setipool and the surrounding areas.
30 students participated in the cleanliness drive.
District Forest Officer [Environment and Soil Conservation] NP Gautam and DFO [Environment] SB Subba led the drive.
The drive was also joined by the public and panchayat of Setipool and surrounding areas.
The Forest Department, in collaboration with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, as a part of World Environment Day 2018 had kicked off the riverfront cleaning drive along Rani Khola and its adjoining streams on 15 May.
The cleanliness drive is scheduled to continue till World Environment Day, 05 June.
