Namchi Senior Secondary School emerged as the champion of the LD Kazi Memorial Gold Cup Inter-School Football Tournament played at Chakung Ground in West Sikkim.
In the final match played today, Namchi Senior Secondary School outplayed Central Pendam Senior Secondary School 3-1 to lift the trophy
Agriculture Minister, Somnath Poudyal, Sports Minister, RB Subba and former Sikkim Legislative Assembly Speaker, KT Gyaltsen handed over trophies and medals to the winner and runner-up team.
The tournament champions, Namchi SSS will now represent Sikkim in the Subroto Mukherjee tournament at Delhi later this year.
More than 74 schools from all over the state had participated from the preliminary rounds of the tournament.
After the prelims, 16 teams were selected through cluster level selection.
The final round for girl’s category of LD Kazi Football Tournament is scheduled to take place at Soreng from 23 May.
