BJP calls out SDF for calling it an ‘outside party’
Gangtok, 18 May:
Bharatiya Janata Party’ Sikkim unit, while addressing a press conference here today, called out the Sikkim Democratic Front for ‘repeatedly attacking BJP’ by calling it an ‘outside party’.
BJP has demanded that the SDF immediately clarify its statement.
The BJP-Sikkim president, DB Chauhan, has asked the SDF how there can be any ‘outside party in this democratic country’.
He further lashed out against that SDF spokesperson, Bhim Dahal, whom he accusedof ‘lack of knowledge and ignorance’for referring to the BJP as an outside party.
“We want immediate clarification from the ruling party on how the BJP is an outside party,” he said.
He further said that the people of Sikkim have welcomed opposition parties to share their problems.
Mr Chauhan has also criticized the Chief Minister’s State-wide tour involving school students in the programme and for the political speeches being made in school premises.
The BJP-Sikkim spokesperson, JB Darnal, added that Mr Bhim Dahal has been calling opposition leaders “foolish” to hide mistakes and foolishness of his own party. He challenged the SDF party to take legal action if it the opposition has been lying to the people.
“We have all facts and figures on the failures of the SDF government in different sectors,” he said.
On the claim of the ruling party of having increased the road density to 8,000 Kms in 24 years from 1,800 KMs, Mr Darnal stated that it was not a big achievement to claim and any government can achieve as much in 24 years. He added that all roads were built under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana scheme funded by the Central Government.
Mr Darnal has asserted that the claims of the SDF government of poverty free Sikkim and organic Sikkim were totally false
He argued that if Sikkim was indeed poverty-free, then why was the State Governmentstillproviding various benefits to the people.
Responding to media queries, Mr Chauhan stated that the regional party governments in the State are responsible for dilution of various old laws of Sikkim. He added that SDF party has failed to place the demands and issues of Sikkim directly in the Centre. He added that BJP can take the demands and issues of the people of Sikkim effectively to the Centre.
Responding on the queries on pre-poll alliance with other parties, he said, “We are in the favor of pre-poll alliance with any like-minded party willing to work for the people of Sikkim.”
