Prepare for Karmapa's visit, says CM at Barfung
Ravangla, 18 May [IPR]:Putting all rumors to rest, the Chief MinisterPawan Chamling today announced the arrival of Karmapa and urged the people to prepare for a grand reception. The CM said this while addressing the public of Barfung in South Sikkim as part of his 32-day State-wide public outreach tour ‘Jan SamparkAbhiyan’.
Addressing the gathering, MrChamling spoke in depth about the tour and said that the tour aims at empowering people to take charge of their own development.
He further talked about the State Government’s aim to protect and provide every citizen of the State with basic civic and political rights.
The Chief Minister also sanctioned the construction of Tashiding Bridge along with upgradation and construction of new roads to link remote villages in the constituency.
He further assured that the vacant posts of professors and teachers in schools and colleges of the district will be filled at the earliest.
He assured the teachers that the demands placed by them will be fulfilled by the State Government.
MrChamling further announced that BhutiaLepcha seats will be created in Panchayat and Nagar Panchayat, and the final decision will be taken in 2-3 months.
With regards to the health sector, the CM maintained that his government has always prioritized public health above all. He urged the public to take advantage of free treatments and other qualitative policies constituted by the State Government.
In the education scenario, the Chief Minister urged the youth of the constituency to take advantage of the facilities provided by the State Government and asked the students to avail free education in institutions such as CCCTChisopani and ATTCBardang.
The CM also asked youth to make use of the Chief Minister’s Start-up Scheme and develop innovativeentrepreneurial ventures and self employment opportunities in rural as well as urban areas of the State.
Additionally, he informed that the scheme aims to provide financial contribution upto 25% of the project cost alongwith ventures entailing total investment up to Rs 20 lakh.
The CM strongly urged the general public to work in coordination and in harmony and to further upgrade the State as one of the model States in the country.
During the course of the programme, the Chief Minister was felicitated by the public of Barfung constituency for his endeavors in uplifting the State in domestic as well as in global arena and also in becoming the longest-serving Chief Minister of any State in the Country.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Speaker,Sikkim Legislative Assembly, KN Rai, Area MLA cum Minister, DD Bhutia, Cabinet Ministers, Chairpersons, Advisors,ZillaPanchayats, Department officials and the public.
Earlier, the CMinaugurated the Block Administrative Centre at Ravangla.
