CM ATTENDS VALEDICTORY FUNCTION OF NCC ANNUAL TRAINING CAMP AT NAMCHI Chamling calls on young to toughen up because success does not come easy

Chief Minister Pawan Chamling today attended the valedictory function of Annual Training Camp-VI of 03rd Sikkim Battalion of National Cadets Corps (NCC) here at Namchi Government College.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, KN Rai, Human Resource Development Department Minister, RB Subba, Principal Secretary [HRDD], GP Upadhyaya, Secretary,RajyaSainik Board Colonel [Retired], DN Bhutia, Principal Kamrang College, Dr PR Poudyal, NCC cadets and students.

Addressing the function, MrChamling encouragedthe students and youth of the State to face problems courageously.

“Success is not easy. Life is tough but we should aim to pass the test of life with flying colors,” MrChamling added.

He urged the NCC cadets to inculcate positive character which he said will assist them in life and make the society a better place to live in. He explained in particular, the diversity of India and said that the cadets need to imbibe the concept of unity in diversity and uplift the country to greater heights. He also emphasized that the cadets and students need to place high value on disciplineand the importance of routine in their daily life.

He also urged the gathering to embrace the spirit of adventure and physical activity for long and healthy life.

“We are the facilitators to help you find your path but to make best use of the opportunities provided by us is entirely upon your shoulders,” he said.

He further urgedthe students to take up various prostudents educational scheme of the State Government and also underlined the importance of skill-based education.

He also announced that the State Government will provide free coaching facilities for National Defense Academy [NDA] and other competitive examinations for the youth of the State.

The CM reiterated that 05% reservation in government jobs will be provided for ‘A’ grade sportspersons of the State who have played at national and international levels. He also announced to grant an annual sum of Rs12 lakh to ‘A’ grade football clubs and clubs associated with sports like badminton, boxing and archery,

Brigadier SanjeevSaini in his address gave a brief outline about the historical background of NCC cadets and its origin in the country. He informed that the NCC cadets in Sikkim organize a variety of state and national level camps. The brigadier underlined that during the NCC training the cadets are imparted with valuable leadership qualities, national integration and adventure camp and NCC youth exchange program.

It may be mentioned here that 400 cadets including 150 girls from all over the state have undergone the annual training camp.
