Social worker Sunmaya dedicates felicitation to Sikkimese women
Gangtok, 19 May:
Sikkimese social worker, Sunmaya Gurung, has been felicitated by Siliguri-based North Bengal Human Development Charitable Trust [NBHDCT]. She was felicitated during the Trust’s Social Workers Appreciation Programme 2017-18 while also celebrating Mother’s Day on 13 May in Siliguri.
Ms Gurung hails from Development Area in Gangtok and has been helping people suffering from ailments with referral cases to hospitals outside the State. It is informed that she has also raised around 15 orphans and destitute children who are presently working successfully in different fields. She runs a small cafe near STNM Hospital and visits the hospital often to look for people in need.
Addressing a press conference here today, Ms Gurung dedicated this felicitation and other honors received from different organisations in the past to women of Sikkim.
“Since my childhood days, I just loved to serve needy persons and this zeal has motivated me to always help them,” she said.
She is not only providing financial help to the people in need but has also been helping take patients of referral cases to hospitals outside the State.
