SDF refutes Bhaichung’s allegations
Gangtok, 21 May:
Sikkim Democratic Front has strongly refuted the recent allegations leveled against the ruling party and the State Government by Bhaichung Bhutia in connection with his plans for Hamro Sikkim Party’s launch in the State. Mr Bhutia had claimed that they were expecting a turnout of 15,000-20,000 people for the launch provided the SDF did not obstruct people’s attendance.
In a press release issued today, the SDF spokesperson, Bhim Dahal, has registered strong objection to Mr Bhutia’s allegations and countered that such claims and allegations even before the launch revealed a defeated spirit.
Mr Dahal highlights that after losing twice as a TMC candidate - once in the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat and then the Siliguri Assembly seat – Mr Bhutia recently launched Hamro Sikkim Party in Delhi and has now announced to launch the Sikkim chapter of party by the end of this month.
Clarifying that the SDF party would not obstruct their plans or attendance, Mr Dahal adds that if Mr Bhutia’s party has the people’s support, then people would come themselves and there would be no need to “gather” the people. The release registers its protest against what SDF sees as an insulting word in “gather” as was attributed to Mr Bhutia in his plans for the party’s launch here.
“SDF party would like to inform Bhaichung Bhutia that many political parties were opened in Sikkim during SDF’s tenure and many disappeared and other regional and national parties are currently active,” the release adds.
