Electoral Literacy Club training held in West
Gyalshing, 22 May [IPR]:
West District Election Department conducted an Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) training programme for various Block Level Officers, Nodal Officers from educational institutions, Non Governmental Organizations and Nehru Yuva Kendra members on 11 and 12 May at Kyongsa Zilla Bhawan in West Sikkim.
Sub Divisional Magistrate [Kabi] and State Level Master Trainer [SLMT], Mahesh Sharma briefed the participants about ELC and the importance of forming an ELC in their respective institutions and Blocks.
He educated the gathering on the importance of voting and the process and documents required when applying for a voter identification card.
District Collector [West], Dr AB Karki motivated the BLOs to make proper use of the ELC programme and further announced the prize money for the best three BLOs in the district.
Sub Divisional Magistrate [Dentam], RB Bhandari on the second day of the programme talked about the role of BLOs, NGOs and KVKs in spreading awareness on the importance of voting.
The participants were also made aware about the enhanced version of BLO NET (Hybrid BLO Mobile App) and upcoming summary revision schedule.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Secretary [Election Department], Tashi Choden Bhutia and staff members from District Election Department, West Sikkim.
