MGIET-UNESCO Director calls on HRD Minister

Director, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education on Peace and Sustainable Development of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (MGIEP-UNESCO), Dr Anantha K Duriappah, called on Minister for Human Resource Development Department, RB Subba, on 22 May at the HRDD Head Office here, a press release from Director, Primary Education [HRDD], Bhim Thatal informs.
Dr Duriappah is currently on a two-day visit in Sikkim to observe the joint initiative of MGIEP-UNESCO and State Council of Educational Research and Training [SCERT], Sikkim for training text book writers of the State for embedding Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) in text-books developed at SCERT.
MGIEP-UNESCO has engaged 10 experts from different countries including India for the joint initiative. The new textbooks for class I to III are planned to be ready by end of this year for piloting in selected schools of the state, informs the release.
Dr Durriappah and Mr Subba conducted a meeting at HRDD office which was attended by MGIEP-UNESCO curriculum head, Yoko Mochizuki, Shankar Mushafir, Additional Chief Secretary, G.P Upadhyaya, SCERT director, Dr Rabin Chhetri and Joint-Director, Tsheringkee Bhutia.
During the meeting, the Dr Duriappah briefed the Minister about several programs conducted by MGIEP-UNESCO and also discussed about the possibility of future collaboration with HRDD- Sikkim.
