Gyalshing College adopts Arigaon under Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Prog

Sikkim Government College, Gyalshing, conducted a pilot survey at Arigaon village under Yangthang Gram Panchayat Unit in West Sikkim as part of its ‘Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Program’, a press release informs.
Under the internship programme, students will have to adopt a village of their choice, and work with the village community for building a lasting system for improving the overall sanitation and hygiene in the village, the release reads.
Each student under the internship programme has to allocate at least 100 hours to swachhata and carry out specific measures for improving sanitation and hygiene in the village.
Jointly launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in association with Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation 'Swachh Bharat Summer Internship - 100 Hours of Swachhata' aims to engage youth across the country to develop their skills and orientation for sanitation related work and make Swachh Bharat Mission a Jan Andolan.
Sikkim Government College, Gyalshing, adopted Arigaon village under Yangthang GPU, and conducted pilot survey during which they interviewed more than 50 families and interacted with the area panchayats, informs the release.
The internship team is scheduled to conduct sanitation activities like awareness campaigns door-to-door meetings, cleanliness drives, draw wall paintings during the course of the internship.
