Miss World to celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day in Sikkim
Gangtok, 26 May:
The current Miss World, Manushi Chhillar is coming to Sikkim to attend the Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration on 29 May here at Manan Kendra. On the occasion, she will be interacting with girl students and women on menstrual hygiene.
Ms Chhillar is scheduled to arrive at Gangtok on 28 May.
The beauty queen won the Beauty with a Purpose crown for her project in Female Hygiene and Health and has been presently creating awareness among adolescent girls and women on good menstrual hygiene.
This was informed by Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration adhoc committee in a press conference here today, which was addressed by its president, Tshering Gyatso, general secretary, Krishna Lepcha and publicity secretary, Wangchuk Bhutia.
They informed that girl students from different schools and colleges and ASHA members from throughout the State have been invited for the celebration. They informed that the Miss World and experts will interact with participants on concerned topics in the 2-hour long programme. They added that the celebration has also targeted to create wide awareness on cervical cancer and to support womanhood.
“We have come forward with a noble cause and it is a good opportunity to interact with the current Miss World on this important topic. So we would like to appeal to all to attend the programme,” they urged.
