Hamro Sikkim Party to be launched at Daramdin
Daramdin, 30 May:
Hamro Sikkim Party is being launched at Daramdin, West Sikkim, on Thursday. The new political party was announced at New Delhi last month. Many founding members of the party have reached Daramdin for the launch.
Former minister Ran Bahadur Subba, former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia and many party members were at Daramdin bazaar where the pandal for the launch is installed.
Speaking to media, Ran Bahadur Subba said Hamro Sikkim Party is a party for all the Sikkimese people.
"People are saying it is RB Subba's or Bhaichung's party but in reality it is a party of all the Sikkimese communities Bhutia, Lepcha, Nepali and business communities," he said.
He further added that Hamro Sikkim Party was borne out of the need to right the wrongs of the current dispensation.
Mr Subba informed that the venue of the launch was decided following consultations with the people. He alleged that the state government tried to create hurdles in the launch of the party but added that such efforts will not stop the people and our party.
"We are hopeful that it will be a beautiful launch. The response from the people is positive and we have received response from every section of the society," said MN Dahal.
He expressed hope the party will bring about a drastic change in the political scenario of Sikkim. "Basically the economy is at a standstill and youth have nowhere to go, their livelihood is difficult as agricultural land has decreased and business has gone to the capitalists outside the State," said Mr Dahal.
In such a scenario, people want a way out and they are hopeful that Bhaichung Bhutia and RB Subba are working hard for all sections of the society, said Mr Dahal.
