KVK South conducts training for farmers in Belbotay
Gangtok, 31 May:
Daylong training and awareness programme for farmers was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Sikkim, at Belbotay under Lungchok-Kamarey GPU of South district in the presence of Panchayat president, Deo Raj Rai, as chief guest, a press release informs.
At the onset of the programme, Subject Matter Specialist [Plant Protection], Pravesh Shivakoty, briefed the farmers about the activities of KVK. He also detailed the farmers about the organic production technology of oyster mushroom and demonstrated the method of mushroom cultivation.
Subject Matter Specialist [Soil Science], Wilson Rai, informed the farmers about the procedure of soil sampling for soil testing while SMS [Horticulture], Yangchenla Bhutia, detailed about organic package and practice of okra var Sikkim Local 1.
Likewise, SMS [Agronomy], Dr Nation Chamling, highlighted about the Integrated Nutrient Management in Paddy while SMS [Extension], Meena Pradhan, informed about the formation of Joint Liability Groups for Credit Linkage.
Inputs like mushroom spawns, paddy seed and okra seed were also distributed to the farmers.
