West District Administration holds coordination meet

The Office of the Additional District Collector (Development) under the leadership of DC (West), Dr. AB Karki, organized a co-ordination meeting with the Area MLA, Zilla and Panchayat Members, Block Development Officers and Panchayati Raj Institution Functionaries of Soreng Sub-Division at the Community Hall, Soreng. Minister, HRDD, RB Subba, attended the meeting as the chief guest.

The program held at the community hall was a result of the 32-day tour of the Chief Minister where various schemes had been sanctioned and which needed immediate action.

The BDOs of the various Block Administrative Centers presented their reports to the audience present at the Community Hall where various issues concerning the CMRHM, MGNERGA, Solid and Liquid Waste Management and other such policies were discussed in detail. During the meeting it was said that multiple job cards in one family would not be allowed and would be carefully looked into.

Minister, Mr Subba congratulated the DC along with the newly promoted ADC (Dev.) and SDM for taking charge and taking the task of making West District the number one district. He expressed his delight in the appointment of Dr. AB Karki as the DC whose words of encouragement have boosted the confidence of the people of Soreng Sub-Division. He also welcomed the participation of the youth in making West District the best in the State. He also mentioned the sanctioned amounts for Dentam Vocational School and Chakung Science Government College.

DC (West) while addressing the gathering stressed about the four steps - Vision, Mission, Strategy and Implementation which can be used to help West District achieve its goal of being the number one District of Sikkim and later India. He pointed out that the government comes out with a vision where the Departments chalk out the mission and the Administration draws up the strategy and the public helps the government to implement it and make it a success.

He asked the Gram Panchayat functionaries to be accountable for their work, prompt, updated and public friendly. He also stated that strict actions would be taken against the appointed officials of the Village Administrative Center who do not comply with the public and the members of the Panchayats as well. On speaking about the defaulters of the various Housing Schemes which have been implemented in the state, he said that similar actions would be taken on those found guilty.

In his address, he asked the BDOs, Zilla and Gram Panchayat members to make the Gram Panchayat Developmental Plan, the Block Developmental Plan and District Developmental Plan for achieving the goal of being the best district.

Similarly, he instructed the ADC (Dev.) to make standard email IDs for keeping digital records and information disseminations within themselves. He enlightened the Panchayats about their powers and functions of being people's representatives and gave various ideas for fund generation for the Panchayats for different works in their respective GPUs. He then stressed on the idea of how Academic and Administration should and will work hand in hand for better formation of policies.

ADC (Dev.), Soreng, Gaayas Pega, gave a comprehensive report of the entire Soreng Sub-Division where a total of 686 REDRH houses were allotted out of which 581 have been completed. 818 CMRHM houses were sanctioned out of which 692 have been completed. Similarly, 432 CMRHM Phase-I has been sanctioned as per the CM’s vision of ‘Kutcha House free Sikkim’.

He also asked the Panchayat Members to keep track of official records and be efficient. He advised the members to keep in mind the motto of the CM “Afno Gaon, Afai Banau” and work towards developing their respective areas.
