Auditions for Miss Sikkim 2018 organized by Positude, an event management company of the State, officially wrapped up in the capital today.
Chief Executive Officer, Positude, Gyurmila Bhutia, informed that 31 contestants auditioned to compete in the beauty pageant.
“The contestants are more confident and will be easy to groom as the quality of the contestants has increased immensely,” Ms Bhutia said.
She added that the finale, slated to be held in September, will have 19 finalists from among whom one will be crowned Miss Sikkim 2018.
Expressing sadness on not being able to induct girls with height less than 5’4”, she said that she hopes to tie up with other competitions where the height requirement is 5'3".
It must be noted that Miss Sikkim is currently tied up with Miss Diva which sends country's representative in Miss Universe and Miss Supranational contests among others.
There will be a 15-day grooming session by Positude with speaking skills, fitness and creativity as important elements, she informed.
A representative of Miss India will be a judge in the finale.
It was further informed that the company is in talks with a leading actress from Nepal, Priyanka Karki, along with some Bollywood personalities as judges for the finale.
The judges for the auditions were CEO, Positude, Gyurmila Bhutia, Founder, Fidgety Fingers, Devika Gurung, Journalist Yougan Tamang and Anjali Chettri.
The theme for this year’s edition of Miss Sikkim is, ‘Fight Against Cancer’.
Winners of Miss Sikkim will get a chance to enter the finals of Miss India Diva which can turn models into Miss Universe and Miss Supranational.
