600 saplings planted by public in Rangrang Chandey Ward

Rangrang Chandey Ward of Dzongu, North Sikkim today observed World Environment Week which was attended by around 200 people under the supervision of Ward Panchayat, Rangrang, MB Thapa, Ward Panchayat, Chandey, Tshering Tamang, Nava Yuva Samaj president, BB Giri, and NYS general secretary, MB Limboo.

Members of Lotus, Samarpan, Ekta and Utsav Self Help Groups, senior citizens and youth dedicated the entire day towards planting 600 saplings provided by Tingchim nursery under Forest Department. They also constructed footpath and log-bridge at Ambithang Khola landslide zone which is a short and convenient path for students and commuters connecting Rangrang to Chandey and Mangan.

This stretch has been in deplorable condition since past few years with rainy season causing frequent landslides at the sinking zone.

The public of the area have urged the State Government to look into the matter.
