Kalimpong’s Mani Trust launches month-long plantation drive

Kalimpong based Mani Trust launched its month-long environment awareness and community based plantation programme under ‘Lets Save Environment’ today at Dhajey under Bhalukhop Gram Panchayat in Kalimpong.
Project officer, Passang Sherpa, in his address informed about the organization’s initiative to plant 15,000 tree saplings in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar and the four districts of Sikkim during its month-long campaign.
Founder, Mani Trust, Subhash Mani Singh further informed that the initiative is not only focused on environment awareness but also aims to mobilize masses in plantation drives.
“We have no control over natural calamities but we can always contribute to save our planet by planting trees which helps heal the eco-system,” he added.
