Joint inspection reviews preparedness for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra
Nathula, 08 Jun [IPR]:
A team of officers comprising of Secretary, Special Secretary, Deputy Secretary and the concerned Engineers of Tourism & Civil Aviation Department along with Chief Executive Officer and Assistant General Manager of Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation [STDC] conducted a joint inspection to review the preparedness of the State Government for conducting Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Nathula 2018. The team took a stock of arrangements at acclimatization centres at 15th mile, 17th mile and Sherathang and interacted with ITBP officials and officials at Customs and Immigrations office at Nathula in East Sikkim.
The issues of water supply, electricity and minor repairs were found to be completed at the acclimatization centres and the State is all geared up to receive the first batch who will be reaching Gangtok on 15 Jun starting their journey from Delhi from 11 Jun, it is informed.
It may be mentioned here, this year Sikkim has been allotted 10 batches comprising 50 members in each batch subject to fulfillment of medical requisites. The success of the Yatra largely depends on the co-ordination between the concerned Departments and their support. Since this involves the image of the State Government, all line Departments have agreed to work hand in hand and their willingness to extend all necessary support as per the decision of the meeting held on 04 June 2018.
