Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society [SPNS] organised a Philatelic and Numismatic Workshop at Tashi Namgyal Academy in Gangtok on 09 Jun. With philatelic and numismatic materials displayed for the students, TNA has become the first school in Sikkim to set up a Philatelic and Numismatic Club, a press release informs.
A PowerPoint presentation on philately was explained by SPNS member, Vivek Yonzone, while another SPNS member, Vikrant Yonzone, conducted the Numismatic Workshop.
President, SPNS, Ganesh Pradhan, congratulated TNA for coming up with the hobby club for students. He thanked Director cum Principal, TNA, retired Major VK Pillai, for initiating the club.
Secretary, SPNS, Shital Pradhan, while speaking on the occasion appealed to the students to appreciate the beauty of the hobby and pursue it with sincerity and dedication.
“Philatelic and Numismatic hobbies if done in a proper way can give you name, fame and above all knowledge of the world around,” he added.
International Medalist on Philately, Roshan Prasad, informed about the launch of Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana scholarship scheme by the Department of Posts, Government of India that awards children in the class category of Standard VI-IX.
From TNA, teachers involved in the stamp club included Parbati Basnett, Kelsang Wangmoo, Nirmala Pradhan and Adwina Gurung.
