RSB flags off 106 Sikkimese boys for basic military training

Gangtok, 11 Jun:

Rajya Sainik Board, Sikkim organized a flag off ceremony at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok today for 106 Sikkimese youth who have been selected to join the Indian Army. The selected boys will move forward towards Siliguri for onward dispatch to 11 GRRC Lucknow under the arrangement of Director, Army Recruitment Organisation [ARO], Siliguri. They will be undergoing basic military training at Gorkha Training Centre in Lucknow, a press release informs.

The flag off ceremony was presided over by Chief Secretary, AK Shrivastava, who in his address said that the increasing number of young people from the State joining the Indian Armed Forces is a good sign and that it helps in exploring opportunities while contributing in national integration.

During the programme, the Chief Secretary also felicitated ARO Director, Colonel Om Prakash Sharma, with Letter of Appreciation for his meritorious service and contributions to the State of Sikkim.

It may be recalled here, 109 young boys were dispatched for military training on 07 Jan earlier this year from TNA ground.
