Compensation granted to land owners for PMGSY road construction in Soreng

Gangtok, 12 Jun:

Land owners of Soreng-Chakung and Middle Mendogaon block, who had voluntarily donated their lands for the construction of PMGSY roads under RMDD, were granted compensation today at the SDM Office in Soreng, West Sikkim by Minister of Human Resource Development Department, RB Subba.

A press release informs that the link road between Soreng-Chakung and Middle Mendogaon is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1,23,06,507 and a sum of Rs 68,23,885 was granted today to the land owners in the form of cheques.

The programme also had the presence of Additional District Collector [Development], Gayas Pega, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sonam Topgey Tashi, Panchayat president of Mendogaon and others.

In his address, Minister Subba said that Sikkim is the only State in the country where full compensation is provided to land donors. In this regard, he added that PMGSY roads in Sikkim have reached almost every nook and corner.

He also shed light on the current status of education in Sikkim and extended hearty congratulations to the students and teachers for the good results in Class 10 and Class 12 board exams this year.
