FIFA World Cup fever strikes Gangtok

Gangtok, 12 Jun:

Gangtok is all set to celebrate the world’s biggest sports festival of the year, the FIFA World Cup 2018, with series of events.

Football Clubs Association of Sikkim [FCAS] is organising an extravaganza – the World Cup Festival - here in front of the old Tourism Office at MG Marg from 4 pm onwards on 13 June.

An FCAS press release from its general secretary, Sumeet Thirani, informs that the celebration will include football skills competition including jugglery and others, Zumba, aerobics, performance by Sikkim police band, DJ show and a colourful march.

It is informed that festoons and flags of the participating countries in the World Cup 2018 will also be put up at MG Marg.

“Let us all unite and show Sikkim is a football loving state with its own cesspool of talent and glory in the sport. We would like to invite everyone to this event and the best one can do to support their teams is by donning their team jerseys,” the FCAS has appealed.

The FCAS has invited all to be part of this festival which will kick off at 4 pm on 13 June. FCAS has also appealed to all sports bodies, associations and organisations to participate at the event with their members.
