High Court transfers two senior judges
Gangtok, 13 Jun:
High Court of Sikkim has transferred its two senior judges of State Superior Judicial Services with directions to join new posting on or before 15 Jun.
District & Sessions Judge [East], Gangtok, K C Barphungpa, has been transferred and posted as Legal Remembrancer-Cum-Secretary, Law Department, Government of Sikkim. JB Rai, who was the Legal Remembrancer-Cum-Secretary, Law Department, has been transferred and posted as District & Sessions Judge [East], Gangtok.
In the posting order, the High Court has said that the District & Sessions Judge [East] will dispose of all matters heard and reserved for judgment before joining new place of posting adding that in case the District & Sessions Judge [East], Gangtok is unable to dispose of the case, reasons for the same should be reported to the High Court.
In addition to the posting of two judges of the District & Sessions courts, the Chief Judicial Magistrate-Cum-Civil Judge, Namchi, Sonam Denka Wangdi, has been entrusted additional charge of newly inaugurated Civil court at Yangang Sub-Division, South Sikkim with effect from 12 Jun.
Similarly, Judicial Magistrate-Cum-Civil Judge, Gangtok, Ranjeeta Pradhan, has been endorsed additional charge of Rongli Judicial Magistrate-Cum-Civil Judge Court.
Both the new courts will function with immediate effect and both the Civil judges will hold court on second Monday of every month and avail service of the ministerial staff of the Court of Namchi and Gangtok until further order.
