On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Art of Living, Sikkim Chapter in association with Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation will be conducting yoga class for officials of Tourism & Civil Aviation Department and tourism stakeholders from 7 a.m to 8 a.m at the conference hall of Paryatan Bhavan in Tadong on 21 Jun, a press release informs.
Similarly, AYUSH, Health Care, Human Services & Family Welfare Department as the nodal department with support from other line departments will be holding mass yoga at Paljor Stadium to be attended by around 2000 participants from National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme, Sashastra Seema Bal, Indo Tibetan Border Police and students from various schools, colleges and universities in the scheduled time and date to mark the celebration of International Yoga Day.
It may be mentioned here, the aforementioned events are being organized in sync with the United Nations’ declaration of 21 Jun as the International day of yoga - an occasion to propagate yoga on a large scale considering the health benefits attached with yoga.
This year, the centre-piece will be the mass yoga demonstration wherein participants will pursue the drill of common Yoga protocol in harmony. Yoga demonstrations will be held from 7 a.m to 8 a.m on 21 Jun at all places.
As part of the programme, Art of Living, Sikkim Chapter will also be organising a foundation course on yoga from 17-21 Jun at the conference hall of Paryatan Bhavan from 5 p.m to 7 p.m to inculcate an interest in yoga thereby encouraging wellness tourism in Sikkim. The course will give an insight to the basics of yoga.
