Gyalshing, 18 Jun [IPR]:
The Inter State Exchange Programme which had commenced on 16 Jun concluded today at Yangthang Village Administration Centre in Gyalshing with the MGNREGA Social Audit ‘Jan Sunwai’ facilitated by District Resource Institution [DRI] under the guidance of Social Audit Unit, Sikkim.
The Jan Sunwai was chaired by Zilla Panchayat Member, San Moti Subba, along with Additional District Collector [Development], Gyalshing, Surat Gurung, and other departmental representatives.
The Inter State Exchange delegates of the seven North East States, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and the Ministry of Rural Development [MoRD] officials verified the MGNREGA documents maintained by the Block and Gram Panchayat Units as per the Sikkim Social Audit Module & MGNREGA guidelines.
The team also visited the different on-going and completed works undertaken under MGNREGA along with the convergence work in two GPUs viz Gyalshing Omchung and Yangthang.
During the ‘Jan Sunwai’ at the Yangthang VAC, huge participation of public was seen where a large number of MGNREGA Job Card holders and public participated in the question hour and mostly demanded enhancement of daily wage rate under the scheme.
The Deputy Secretary, MoRD, assured to put forth the demand in the Ministry.
The delegates and the MoRD officials expressed appreciation of the Sikkim Social Audit Module and the book keeping technique by the GPUs.
