Sikkim’s Marathon Man, Amar Subba, secured third position in the 24-Hour Stadium Run held on 16-17 June at the University Stadium, Marine Drive, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He covered 152.8 KMs in 24 hours.
The run kicked off at 06 p.m. on 16 June and continued till 06 p.m. on 17 June.
Narendra Ram from Delhi came in first while Navin Panth from Mumbai secured second position.
Narendra Ram covered 164.8 KMs while Navin Panth covered 162 KMs in 24 hours.
It is informed that out of 47 runners from different parts of the country, 41 runners completed the entire 24-hour run.
Addressing a press conference here today, 50-year-old Amar Subba expressed his happiness and satisfaction over his performance in the competition.
Unfortunately, he sustained a right ankle injury barely four hours into the run.
“Although it was really painful to run with an injured ankle, I was dedicated and committed to complete my run this time. I was the only runner from the entire North East region so I wanted to keep the name of my State and the region on top,” he shared.
“I ran full swing in the last hour of the run which helped me finish the competition in third place,” he said.
He added that there was good opportunity for youth to make a good career in marathons. He also thanked all his supporters and well wishers for their support and encouragement.
