Will finalize party president by October: HSP

Gangtok, 19 Jun:

Hamro Sikkim Party president will be finalized by October this year informed vice presidents, Tirtha Sharma and Bina Basnett today while interacting with the media regarding the ongoing activities of the party.

“We believe in promoting everyone under our leadership. We are nurturing leaders for the future,” they said.

They further informed that the party is currently working towards strengthening the party’s hold in villages of West and South Districts. The party’s programmes will be held in all four districts from July onwards, they added.

The party officials expressed displeasure over the VIP escort vehicles provided to the Ministers by the State Government.

“It is a waste of public money. The use of VIP escort vehicles is not justifiable as the State Government claims that Sikkim is the most peaceful State in the country. These vehicles cause inconvenience to the general public,” the VPs said.

The party officials also condemned the State Government for involving school students and teachers in the Chief Minister’s State-wide Jan Sampark Yatra programmes. They also criticized the State Government for using school grounds as venues for political programmes.

“The students should be preparing for exams, instead they are being made to listen to political speeches,” they added.

HSP also reiterated its demand for abolition of service extension of government officials.

“If service extension were to be stopped, there is room for employment of 600 youths in the current bureaucracy. Stopping service extension would provide opportunities to new generation and infuse a transparent and innovative work culture,” they said.

The party also demanded equal pay for equal work for all employees.
